Folk arts reflect the cultural life of a community. Traditional folk arts are usually expressed in practical objects like homewares, person items, textiles, furniture and home decoration, but also included painting particularly in domestic landscapes and portraits. Recent years have also seen a resurgence in new work which is inspired by tradition, but given a modern twist, with new colour palettes, modern materials and contemporary subject matter.
Come along to the Portland Library and work on creating a piece for the upcoming exhibition in the library. All media welcome.
All materials will be supplied and this is a free activity as part of Libraries After Dark.
