Exhibitions on display now
Folk arts reflect the cultural life of a community. Traditional folk arts are usually expressed in practical objects like homewares, personal items, textiles, furniture and home decoration, but also included painting particularly in domestic landscapes and portraits.
Recent years have also seen a resurgence in new work which is inspired by tradition, but given a modern twist, with new colour pallettes, modern materials and contemporary subject matter.
On display at the Casterton Library until 29 March 2025
Artists were invited to explore the intersection of dreams, colour and emotion.
Below is a small taste of the many works submitted for this exhibition, which include pastel drawings on paper, Mixed media paint and collage, acrylic painting, textiles, photography and sculpture.
