Come and Try Ukulele

Next date: Thursday, 06 February 2025 | 06:30 PM to 07:00 PM

As part of its February takeover of our Libraries After Dark program, the Portland CEMA (Council for Encouragement of Music and the Arts) Ukulele Group is delivering two ukulele activities:

Adult Ukulele Beginners: 6.30pm – 7:00pm

If you are an absolute beginner ukulele player or simply curious, come along for a half hour “Introduction to Uke playing” led by CEMA President Jan Colliver with the help of group members.  There are a few ukuleles available to try thanks to a recent grant from “Pacific Blue,” but if you have your own uke please bring it along.

Sing and Strum Session: 7:15 pm  8.15pm

Suitable for ukulele players who know a few chords, and anyone keen to sing a long or simply listen. If playing, please bring your own uke.

  • Both sessions are free to attend
  • Open to all members of the public

Bookings are preferred and can be made by calling 5522 2265, emailing library@glenelg.vic.gov.au, or by sending us a message on Facebook or Instagram.

Portland CEMA Inc. is celebrating its 80th birthday in 2025. In honour of this milestone, it's partnering with Glenelg Libraries to bring four sessions to Libraries After Dark in the month of February. CEMA stands for Council for Encouragement of Music and the Arts and is a volunteer arts organisation. All sessions will be free of charge, and participants are welcome to consider joining Portland CEMA Inc. as a member to continue enjoying the many group activities throughout the year.
