Join Glenelg Libraries and Arts for an author event with award-winning author, illustrator, publisher, speaker and the founder of Morpheus Publishing Justine Martin as she shares her inspiring journey from author to illustrator to publisher.

Justine’s journey into books was never part of a carefully mapped-out career plan. It grew from lived experience, creativity and a determination to turn some of life’s hardest moments into something that could help others.

Justine spent six years writing her memoir, MOXIE: How I Learnt to Harden the **** Up!, sharing her experiences of disability, illness, grief, resilience and rebuilding a life when everything changes. Along the way, her love of art naturally crossed into storytelling, leading her to illustrate and create children’s books including Finding Hope and Same Same But Different.

What began as telling her own story soon became a passion for helping other people tell theirs.

Justine founded Morpheus Publishing to create a different kind of publishing experience, one built around people, accessibility and the belief that important stories should not be lost simply because someone does not know how to turn their words into a book. Today, Morpheus Publishing works with authors across Australia and supports emerging writers through its publishing scholarship program for people with disability.

In this author event, Justine shares the very real journey of becoming an author, finding herself as an illustrator and then unexpectedly becoming a publisher, including the mistakes, lessons, challenges and wonderfully unexpected opportunities that came with saying yes to the next chapter.

Justine will have her books available for purchase on the evening, with cash and EFTPOS payments accepted.
